Cookbooks I Like…

My Francophone wife is the actual chef in the family. One of her grandfather’s was a chef for the Canadian general staff during WWII. Her mother was the most outstanding cook I had ever met.  Martine inherited from both sides of her family the ability and interest to cook. I am a lucky person. As far as cookbooks in English that we often make use of, here are 4 of my favorites:

Wonderful book from the 1930’s – great quick recipes and period cartoons:



Nice introduction to regional French specialties (despite the French of the title, this is a book in English):



Surprising given the reputation of English cooking (this is more continental, actually):



Terrific book with excellent fusion style recipes as well as non-grilling additions such as the famed, “Blue-Green Mangorita” drink. Meals are simple enough that even I can do them:
